John actively works within the live online auction industry.  He has extensive experience working with both Proxibid and Bidspotter as well as eBay Live.  John’s experience covers all aspects involved with conducting a successful live online auction including inventory, photography, cataloging, photo editing, auction day applet administration, reconciliation, and shipping.  In addition, his experience as an auctioneer uniquely enables him to understand the role and impact of a live online auction and its impact on your traditional auction environment.

Experience

John conducted his first live online auction in 2003.  That auction was a 1,300 lot auction for the State of Minnesota.  His responsibilities included all aspects of the auction including inventory, cataloging, photography, photo editing, auction day applet administration, reconciliation and shipping.  From this immersion into the live online auction industry, John has expanded the number of live online auctions in which he is involved to nearly three dozen per year.  He works with several regional and national auction companies to provide them with auction day technology solutions.

In addition to his work with regional and national auction companies, John also subcontracts with Proxibid and Bidspotter to provide auction day online auction applet administration.  This experience has provided him with a unique look at the inner workings and the behind the scenes of the live online auction industry.  John is able to effectively apply this knowledge to his ongoing work with his regional and national clients.

Services

Inventorying
John is available to travel to your auction site, and inventory the items which will be sold online.  He efficiently works with your staff to lot and describe each item.

Photography
In conjunction with creating an inventory of live auction items, John is often asked to photograph the items for use in the online catalog.  John provides his own equipment, and shows up at your auction site ready to photograph.

Catalog creation
Often, clients provide John with the inventory and photos, and ask that he create the catalog.  This service is often used by clients that have completed several online auctions, and are comfortable inventorying and photographing the items which will be sold online.

Photo editing
Often photos are taken in an environment that are not conducive to photography.  In these situations, John is asked to color edit the photos to enhance the colors, and balance the color levels.  As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.”  However, John believes a poor photo is no better than a few hundred words.  You want your photos to professionally present your items in a way that encourages bidders to be engaged and interested in each item.

Online auction applet administration
Dozens of times a year, John is asked by auction companies and live online auction companies to travel to a specific auction and operate the online auction applet on auction day.  John has a full line of equipment that he travels with to provide seamless worry-free auction day solutions to his clients.  Clients can expect a seamless transition between online bidding and the live auction.  They can also rely on John’s unique “in the ring” live online auction experience.  With this unique method, John is able to be live online in the ring with the auction.  This eliminates the use of two-way radios and the associated lag time.
