It’s already Saturday. Where has the week gone? It seems like it was just Monday. My week was a pretty normal week. Aside from my phone dying on Wednesday afternoon, everyone went off without a hitch. I always take my phone for granted until it dies, and then I realize how dependent on my phone I am for basic survival in the world. It’s my only connection to the outside world. I was only without a phone for six hours, but it was driving me nuts – no texts, no emails, no phone calls. In the end Sprint just swapped out my phone for a replacement. I guess it pays to have insurance!
On Wednesday night, Frank, Andy, Matt and I began to plan our trip to Nashville for the National Auctioneers Conference and Show. We’re planning on road tripping. It’s a week long conference, and we’re going to knock the travel time out in one day. It’s 966 miles from my house to Nashville. With a 2 a.m. departure from my house, we plan to be in Nashville sometime the early evening the same day.
Thursday, was the memorial service for my cousin. I wrote about the sadness of the day and being challenged in my life earlier this week. As the week has gone on, I’ve continued to challenge myself. I believe this will be one of those situations where something good comes from something bad. Don’t get me wrong, my life isn’t such a disaster, I just think a little more positive outlook on life and a little less negative attitude about life will go a long way.
Last night, I went to dinner and a movie with a friend. Dinner was good, and the movie was pretty good. We saw What Happens in Vegas. Although fairly predictable, it’s actually a pretty good movie. It’s definitely not a movie that I’d buy, but in the theater it was pretty good. Plus, there’s enough humor mixed in with the emotional/girly scenes that a guy can get through it pretty unscathed.
Today, I’m off to hang with DPE. It should be a fun time. I’m thinking we’ll be hanging out with MBM and maybe my lil’ brother. The Twins play at 6:10, so I’m sure we’ll try and catch the game. I always enjoy a good baseball game with a few cold beers.
Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and I believe we’re having a lunch for mom. I’ve got to swing over to the store and pickup a card and gift for her. I’ve already got the gift planned out. So, really it’s just a matter of grabbing the card. I’ve also got to get ready for travel. Tomorrow afternoon, the plane is leaving at 6 p.m. for Vermont, and then North Carolina. I’ve got two auctions in two days. Both days are grocery store auctions. They should be fun days.
The rest of the week next week, we’ve got two more auctions. A real estate auction with some shop tools. I think that auction will go well. We’ve had good interest in the real estate. Then, on Saturday, we’ve got a 3-generation farmstead auction. I think that auction is going to go very well. The auction bills are not staying in stock, and the website has been getting tremendous traffic. Hopefully, that all points to a good auction.
