I’ve been a user of Facebook for over a year. At first it started out as just connecting with my family and friends. Now, it’s grown to connecting with friends of friends, business associates, and extended family. Oh, and don’t forget the long lost high school friends. The impact of Facebook has been interesting in my life.

I now regularly communicate with family members and friends that I normally would not see or talk to on a regular basis. Now, I’ve got regular ongoing conversations about random events in life from a wide variety of friends and family. The conversations are not necessarily deep, but they are revealing. They get a peek at my life through status updates, photos and commentary, and I get the same in return. You could say facebook is the ultimate connector. At any given time, any of my connections can see what I’m up to, or insert commentary about a photo or comment on my status, and I can do the same in reverse. In the end, Facebook has created a new social circle made of up random friends, family, and associates all interacting with each other towards me. Perhaps, it’s the narcissist factor, and how much it feeds that “need” of people that makes Facebook so addicting and popular. Whatever it is, it’s by far the site I spend the most time at each day.

With that in mind, we launched a Facebook page for our business earlier this year. I’ve got it setup to automatically collect our feed. So, when a new item is posted to our website, it is automatically posted to Facebook. We’ve currently got 21 “fans” on Facebook. Most of them are friends, family or employees. I’d like to figure out a way to leverage Facebook to create a legitimate financial return, and obtain more “fans” that are on the fringe rather than in the inner circle of our business. In the end it’s all about notoriety, and being seen, and seen being.

If you’re interested in connecting on Facebook, feel free to add me as a friend [my profile]. See you on facebook!

In the past few weeks, I’ve noticed my dreaming has picked up substantially. I’m not sure of the cause of this. However, it’s been an interesting experience.

Work related dreams

Last night, I dreamt the solution to a proposal I’ve been working on for a number of months. I’ve been holding off on the doing anything with the proposal until I could finish all the pieces. Tonight after sleeping for nearly three hours, I awoke with a crystal clear understanding of the solution and final pieces to my proposal. I immediately jotted down my idea, got out of bed, and shot an email to several business associates for their reactions. Time will tell what they’ve got to say. Perhaps the dream and the email was all for not.

Personal dreams

I’ve also had several dreams involving my friends and family. A few nights ago, I had a dream that involved all my immediate family, several of my friends, a random woman (who I know – so I guess she wasn’t that random), a blizzard, and some interesting driving tactics by DPE. I won’t get into specifics, but it was a crazy dream that’s still sticking with me several days later.

Interpretation

Depending on the dream, I often retell the dream to a friend of mine that is a lawyer. He often has very insightful analysis – although sometimes, he is so right on and close to the heart of the matter, that I don’t let on about his accuracy. Increasingly my work dreams, I’ve begun to record rather than interpret. If I wake up, I try to write down the key highlights in hopes of learning something from them. I’ll even shoot an email, as I did last night, to several acquaintances for their reactions.

Cause

I’m curious what has been causing my dreams, as I don’t normally have vivid dreams. However, last night, I was feeling incredibly clear headed. I wondering if this has any connection to the adjustment I received from the Chiropractor yesterday. Although it initially hurt, and there was some burning (normally a good sign that blood is flowing to areas and healing the area), I’m wondering if has helped to clear my head. I guess we’ll tell over the course of the next few days if there is a connection. Although, I can tell you that my spine was out of alignment in several key locations. You should have heard the popping in my hips, spine and neck.
